BJP gears up for 'Mission 44+' in J-K Assembly polls

Jammu, May 31: With an aim to improve upon its performance in Lok Sabha polls,

today decided to launch its 'Mission 44+' seats in

Assembly elections slated for later this year.

"We have decided to start the poll preparations with immediate effect so that the ground is prepared on time for achieving the Mission 44+ seat in Assembly polls," BJP state President and MP Jugal Kishore Sharma said here today.

BJP has 11 seats in the present state Assembly, which has a total strength of 87. BJP won three out of six Lok Sabha seats of Jammu, Udhampur and Ladakh and take lead in 29 Assembly segments in the recently concluded Parliamentary elections. Jugal, who chaired a meeting of the party MLAs today, underlined the need of achieving this mission saying the formation of a nationalist government that believes in the principle of justice and equality for all, is a necessity.

He added that the establishment of BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir has become all the more imperative considering the nature of divisive politics that Kashmir-based and Kashmir-centric parties have indulged in after 66 years of independence.

BJP state Chief said the formation of BJP government will not only help eradicate fissiparous tendencies in the state but would also lead to the state's all round development with the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Leader of legislative party Ashok Khajuria highlighted the importance of the forthcoming elections in the state. Khajuria said the party has to further mobilise public opinion in its favour so that we not only replicate the April-May 2014 performance in Jammu and Ladakh but also win at least half a dozen seats in the valley.
