BJP Interprets Congress's Exit Poll Debate Absence as Admission of Lok Sabha Election Defeat
Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President J.P. Nadda have publicly stated that the Congress party's decision to abstain from participating in exit poll debates is a clear indication of their acceptance of defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Shah criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress for their denial of the electoral reality, highlighting their sudden silence post-election as a sign of their anticipated poor performance in the exit polls. He emphasized that the Congress's reluctance to face media queries stems from their realization of an impending electoral defeat.

Shah also accused the Congress of undermining the integrity of India's judicial and electoral institutions whenever outcomes do not align with their expectations. Unlike the Congress, Shah remarked, the BJP has always respected the media and exit polls, regardless of the election results, expressing confidence in the ruling alliance surpassing 400 seats.
On the other hand, Nadda took to X to voice his criticism of the Congress's decision to skip exit poll debates, interpreting it as an admission of defeat in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He urged voters in the seventh phase not to waste their votes on a party that only engages when favorable outcomes are anticipated. Nadda highlighted this move as indicative of the Congress's hypocrisy and lack of faith in democratic processes.
Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera announced the party's decision to avoid exit poll debates, citing a desire to stay clear of speculative discussions for TRP gains. Nadda responded by accusing the Congress of showing disdain towards India's democratic process, which saw participation from over 960 million citizens. He criticized the opposition for its attempts to challenge and discredit India's electoral system through repeated legal challenges and unfounded allegations, especially when facing potential electoral setbacks.
Nadda further condemned the Congress and its allies for their efforts to erode public trust in democratic institutions, including the Supreme Court, Election Commission, and media integrity. He questioned whether the Congress implies a vast conspiracy against it involving millions of voters, suggesting such a stance reflects poorly on a party with a long history in Indian politics. Nadda called for maturity from the opposition, emphasizing the importance of respecting democratic processes and institutions.
The Lok Sabha election results are eagerly awaited on June 4th, following a series of polls that have sparked intense debate and speculation across India's political landscape. As parties brace for the outcome, the actions and statements of leaders like Shah and Nadda underscore the high stakes involved in this electoral contest.
