BJP's Moradabad Candidate Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Dies at 72
Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from the Moradabad Lok Sabha seat, passed away at the age of 72. His demise occurred at Delhi's All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Saturday, following a period of illness. The senior BJP leader had been battling health issues related to his throat and had undergone surgery prior to his death. According to Bhupendra Chaudhary, the Uttar Pradesh BJP chief, Kumar had visited AIIMS for a check-up just a day before his passing.

Kumar's political career was marked by significant achievements, including his victory in the 2014 general elections for the Moradabad Lok Sabha seat. However, he faced defeat in the 2019 elections against the Samajwadi Party's S T Hasan. Beyond his tenure in Parliament, Kumar was also a prominent figure in state politics, having served as a five-time BJP MLA from the Thakurdwara assembly segment in Moradabad between 1991 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2014.
The news of Kumar's death has elicited a wave of condolences from various quarters, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In a heartfelt message on X, Adityanath expressed his shock and described Kumar's death as an "irreparable loss" for the BJP family. He extended his sympathies to Kumar's wife Sadhna Singh, their son and daughter, and prayed for strength for the bereaved family.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak also shared their grief over Kumar's untimely departure. Maurya praised Kumar as a hardworking and popular leader whose absence would be deeply felt within the BJP and the broader political landscape. Similarly, Pathak conveyed his condolences to Kumar's family, praying for peace for the departed soul.
Further expressing sorrow over Kumar's demise were UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary and Dharampal Singh, General Secretary Organization of UP BJP. In statements released from the UP BJP headquarters, both leaders highlighted Kumar's dedication and inspirational role within the party. Chaudhary specifically noted the profound sadness and pain caused by Kumar's loss, underscoring his significant contributions to both the party and his constituents.
Kumar's passing not only leaves a void in the hearts of his family and supporters but also marks the end of an era in Moradabad's political scene. His legacy as a devoted public servant and leader will be remembered by many.
