BJP Calls For Mamata Banerjee's Polygraph Test In Kolkata Rape-Murder Controversy

The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that the CBI conduct polygraph tests on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goel concerning the investigation of a doctor's rape and murder case at RG Kar hospital in Kolkata.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee of protecting those involved in the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar hospital in Kolkata.

The party demanded that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conduct a polygraph test on Banerjee.

Reacting to the police's use of force on protestors, the BJP called Banerjee a dictator and demanded her resignation. They also insisted on a lie-detector test for Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Goel. "Whatever is happening in West Bengal is worrisome, as reported by Hindustan Times.

It's akin to tearing the Constitution to shreds. It's clearly visible that if at all there is a dictator in the country, it's Mamata Banerjee," BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia stated during a press conference in New Delhi.

Demands for Polygraph Tests

Bhatia claimed that the police commissioner had initially described the incident as a suicide and should resign and face an investigation. "Truth must come out. The CBI is investigating the case. It should conduct a polygraph test on Mamata Banerjee and the police commissioner to ascertain the truth," he added.

Meanwhile, Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, alleged that police used excessive force on peaceful participants of the 'Nabanna Abhijan' rally. He threatened to halt activities in West Bengal if such actions by state administration continued, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Allegations of Police Brutality

"Police are using water cannons on peaceful protestors at Santragachi, burst tear gas shells on students at Howrah Bridge, lathi-charged them at College Street. Please stop these brutalities immediately," Adhikari told reporters. He warned that if Commissioner Vineet Goyal and DGP did not stop these actions, they would not remain passive.

The woman was raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. She had gone there to sleep amid her 36-hour-long shift. Reports indicate that Sandip Ghosh, ex-principal of the hospital, initially claimed it was a suicide case.

Investigation Of Kolkata Rape-Murder Case

The CBI is also probing allegations of financial irregularities against Sandip Ghosh. The main accused, Sanjay Roy, Dr Ghosh, and others have been subjected to lie-detector tests by the agency. The woman's autopsy revealed she was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death, with 25 internal and external injuries found on her body, as per media reports.

An alarming situation has been created by this administration according to Adhikari. Scores of protestors have been injured due to these actions. "I am going to Howrah station en route to Belur Math as I don't want to break the law," he said, adding that they support the Chhatra Samaj movement but will not come to the forefront as requested by them.

The BJP condemned these actions by police against protestors and reiterated their demand for justice through proper investigation methods including polygraph tests for key figures involved in handling this case.
