BJP Says Sonia Gandhi Linked To Group Funded By George Soros Foundation, Who Advocates Independent Kashmir

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has levelled accusations against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, suggesting they are involved in efforts to tarnish India's reputation. The BJP claims that Sonia Gandhi is connected to an organisation funded by the George Soros Foundation, which has previously supported the notion of Kashmir as an independent nation.

Despite the United States dismissing these allegations, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey plans to question Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Dubey alleges that the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) and Hungarian-American businessman George Soros have conspired with opposition parties to harm India's economy and defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government.

Foreign Influence Allegations

The BJP asserts that Sonia Gandhi's role as co-president of the Forum of the Democratic Leaders in Asia Pacific (FDL-AP) Foundation links her to foreign influences. The party highlights that this foundation has expressed views treating Kashmir as a separate entity, indicating foreign interference in India's internal matters.

In a series of posts on X, the BJP emphasised this connection between Sonia Gandhi and organisations funded by George Soros. They suggest a shared goal between Congress and Soros to undermine India's growth. "This association between Sonia Gandhi and an organisation that has backed the idea of Kashmir as an independent nation expresses the influence of foreign entities on India's internal affairs," they stated.

US Response

The US embassy responded to these allegations, describing them as "disappointing." A spokesperson clarified that while the US government supports media freedom globally, it does not influence editorial decisions or directions of independent organisations like OCCRP. The embassy reiterated its commitment to professional development for journalists without affecting their editorial independence.

Nishikant Dubey reacted strongly to this statement, insisting on questioning Rahul Gandhi in Parliament. He claimed that OCCRP and Soros aim to damage India's economy in collaboration with opposition leaders. Dubey expressed his intention to raise ten questions under Lok Sabha Rule 357, despite alleged attempts by opposition members to suppress his voice.

Congress Connections

The BJP further alleged that Sonia Gandhi's leadership of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation resulted in partnerships with the George Soros Foundation. They argue this demonstrates foreign funding's influence on Indian organisations. Additionally, they highlighted Rahul Gandhi's press conference on Adani being broadcasted by OCCRP, funded by Soros, as evidence of a dangerous relationship aimed at derailing India's economy.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's public acknowledgment of George Soros as an "old friend" was also noted by the BJP as significant. These allegations follow earlier claims by the BJP about a US "deep state" colluding with OCCRP and Rahul Gandhi to harm India's image.

The controversy continues as both sides stand firm in their positions. While the BJP accuses Congress leaders of foreign collaborations, Congress denies these claims. The situation remains tense with potential implications for political dynamics within India.
