BJ Medical College Hostel Hit in Air India Plane Crash: 2 Medical Students Dead in Ahmedabad
Two medical students were killed and over 30 others injured when Air India flight AI171, en route to London Gatwick, crashed into the hostel mess of BJ Medical College in Meghaninagar, Ahmedabad, on Thursday afternoon.
The Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which had taken off minutes earlier, plummeted into the hostel premises, triggering a massive explosion and widespread panic on campus. Eyewitnesses and early rescue reports suggest that 30 to 50 students and staff were inside the hostel or the dining area at the time of the crash.
The violent impact caused severe structural damage and led to casualties both onboard and on the ground. Emergency response teams have sealed off the area, and even hospital personnel are being restricted from entering the affected zone as rescue operations continue.

Students injured in AI171 Crash
BJ Medical College, one of Gujarat's largest government-run medical institutions, is at the center of concern after reports emerged that the Air India Flight AI171 crash has impacted the hostel mess area on campus - a location commonly frequented by students during late-night hours. While official confirmation is still awaited, initial visuals and accounts from the site suggest that the crash occurred in close proximity to student housing facilities.
A senior police officer informed reporters, "According to initial information, a London-bound Air India flight has crashed into the doctors' hostel. Police and other emergency teams arrived at the scene within two to three minutes, and rescue operations are currently underway."
A video circulating online shows a large crowd gathered near the crash site, where a section of the aircraft-including a wheel-appears to have landed on the roof of the intern doctors' hostel at BJ Medical College.
