Bihar's Teacher Recruitment Strategy To Focus On Local Residents From 2025

Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, has unveiled a significant shift in the state's teacher recruitment strategy. He announced that upcoming hiring processes will prioritise local residents. This decision aims to address demands for favouring local candidates in government teaching roles.

The Education Department has been directed to modify the rules to ensure that individuals with Bihar domicile are given precedence in teacher appointments. This change will be implemented from the fourth phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4), set for 2025. The subsequent phase, TRE-5, is anticipated in 2026.

Focus on Local Candidates

"Since we formed the government in November 2005, we've been continuously working to improve the education system. To strengthen it further, a large number of teachers have been appointed," stated Kumar. His remarks highlight the ongoing efforts to enhance educational standards in Bihar.

Before TRE-5 takes place, the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) will also be conducted. This forms part of a comprehensive recruitment roadmap designed to streamline and improve the hiring process for educators within the state.
