Bihar Reports First Covid-19 Cases Of 2025 Wave In Patna, Health Officials Advise Caution
On Monday, Bihar announced its first Covid-19 instances of the current wave, with two males from Patna testing positive. On May 22, both individuals sought care at a private hospital on Bailey Road after experiencing symptoms such as a cold, cough, difficulty breathing, and a drop in oxygen levels.
According to ETV One of the two patients was admitted due to his critical condition and was discharged after three days of therapy, while the other was treated in the outpatient department. The hospital has informed the Civil Surgeon's Office about both cases. Neither of the patients had any recent travel history outside of the state.

Despite the discovery of new instances, free Covid-19 testing facilities in government hospitals throughout Patna have been suspended for more than a year. According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, no new instruction has been issued by the state government regarding the reinstatement of free testing services.
The hefty expense of private lab testing (ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹1,400) has deterred even symptomatic persons from being examined. Meanwhile, the region has seen a significant increase in cold and cough cases, which can be ascribed to seasonal changes, with many people opting for symptomatic treatment rather than Covid testing.
In response to the escalating number of JN.1 variant cases across the country, the Bihar Health Department has increased surveillance efforts. However, medical authorities have advised people not to panic.
The situation is still under control. "Wearing masks in public settings, isolating at the first indication of flu symptoms, and getting tested if the condition worsens are all necessary precautions. While the vaccine effort has considerably lowered the hazard level, maintaining hygiene and adhering to Covid practices is critical," he noted.
Doctors underlined the administration's call to remain vigilant without fear. Citizens are encouraged to be aware but not panicked. "The healthcare system is completely ready to handle the situation," he stated.
administration further stated that government hospitals in Patna have been told to ensure preparation, which includes the provision of beds, oxygen, critical medicines, and vaccines.
