Bihar: Nurse Escapes Gang Rape Attempt, Cuts Genitals Of Accused Doctor

A month after the horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, which sparked nationwide protests, another shocking incident occurred in Bihar, where a nurse narrowly escaped a gang-rape attempt.

The assault took place at the RBS Health Care Centre in Gangapur, Samastipur district, under the Musrighararari police station's jurisdiction.

One of the attackers was identified as Dr. Sanjay Kumar, the hospital administrator, who, along with two associates, attempted to assault the nurse while intoxicated.

As the nurse was wrapping up her shift on Wednesday night, Dr. Kumar and his accomplices-Sunil Kumar Gupta and Awadhesh Kumar-tried to rape her.

In a desperate attempt to free herself, the nurse slashed Dr. Kumar's genitals with a blade and managed to escape. She hid in a nearby field before contacting the police.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar Pandey stated that officers were immediately dispatched to ensure the nurse's safety. He praised her quick thinking, saying, "The presence of mind and courage shown by the survivor is praiseworthy."

Dr Kumar and his two associates were arrested shortly after.

Pandey added that the assailants had locked the hospital from the inside and turned off the CCTV cameras before attempting the assault.

Police recovered several pieces of evidence from the scene, including the blade used by the nurse, blood-stained clothes, three cellphones, and a half-empty liquor bottle.

Since Bihar is a dry state, the three men will also face charges under the state's prohibition laws, as they were drinking before the assault attempt.
