Bihar - Maoists damage Barhat block office
Jamui (Bihar), Feb 15: Maoists partially damaged the building of Barhat block office by exploding a can bomb in the early hours today in Bihar's Jamui district, a police official said.
The main door, gate and a pillar of the block office building were damaged while cracks appeared on some of the walls, the official said. Barhat police officials and Deputy Commandant of 131 company posted at the block headquarters reached the incident site and took stock of the situation, the official said, adding that dog squad has been brought for search operation.
Maoists have given a call for two-day Bihar bandh from today to protest against the death of Chirag, who was a Maoist's special area committee in-charge. Chirag was killed in an encounter with police on January 30, 2016.
Maoists have shown their protest by damaging the block headquarters, the official said. Senior police and administrative officials have left for the incident site, the official said.
