Bihar Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result: JDU Surpasses BJP, Prompts Call From Sharad Pawar
In Bihar, all eyes are now on the performance of Nitish Kumar-headed JDU within the NDA alliance, with the party maintaining a lead in 15 seats, surpassing BJP's lead of 12 seats. This shift is politically significant, particularly as JDU has excelled in seats with a high Muslim population, including Kishanganj, Katihar, and Araria.
The good performance of JDU in Bihar has come amidst questions raised over Nitish Kumar's leadership due to negative reports about his health. If JDU secures more seats than its ally BJP in Bihar, it could impact the 2025 Bihar assembly polls, potentially positioning JDU as a dominant force in the state.

Early trends from the counting indicate that bringing Nitish Kumar back into the NDA fold ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls was a correct decision. This move proves to be a setback for the opposition Mahagathbandhan, comprising RJD, Congress, and left parties.
JDU's performance in various seats underscores its continued popularity among women and Most Backward Caste voters. Moreover, Nitish's decision to rejoin the NDA camp appears to be accepted by his voters, enhancing his political credibility.
JDU has fielded five candidates from the Most Backward Caste category in its share of 15 seats. These candidates have maintained leads in all but one seat, Jahanabad.
During his election campaign, Nitish Kumar emphasized the development works carried out by his party in the state and highlighted the absence of communal riots during his more than 17 years of rule.
Sharad Pawar, leader of the INDIA bloc, reached out to Nitish Kumar and TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu, both leading in 30 seats together. Their support is deemed crucial for Modi to form the government again at the Centre.
