For the NDA, this election presents an opportunity to overcome voter fatigue associated with Nitish Kumar's long tenure of two decades. The upcoming Bihar elections are crucial as they follow the state's first caste survey conducted under Nitish's leadership in 2023. Among Muslims, who comprise 17% of the population, many are classified as OBCs but tend to vote based on community lines.

Although Patna High Court stayed this move, it bolstered Nitish Kumar's image as a champion of OBCs.
