Bihar bends ears to mend image as exam season takes over
Patna, March 2: Bihar has earned itself a bad name when it comes to students cheating in exams. To mend the dented image Bihar is heavily using technology to keep vigil and discourage copying by the students.Bihar School Examination Board chairman Anand Kishor was also recently seen checking students appearing for exam.
CCTV cameras have been installed at the examination centers to keep watch continuously. This time around to discourage cheating in exam Bihar police has been conducting raids and seizing gadgets that were to be used to help students. This time in Bihar answer sheets are bar coded to discourage cheating.
In 2015 Bihar was ridiculed for mass copying in the Matric exams at a center in Vaishali, in 2016 Bihar was joked about after the topper
scam was brought to light. Ruby Rai had topped Class XII examination of 2016 conducted by the Bihar State Education Board in humanities stream, however, she was not able to answer elementary questions related to her subject correctly when she was interviewed by a TV channel. Class XII science stream topper of 2016, Saurabh Shreshtha, also failed to answer basic science questions in the TV interview. This had led to the suggestion that toppers may would have cheated orused fraudulent means to top exams.
Students copying in exams is so common in Bihar that exam time is considered a testing time for invigilators.
