'Bharat Mata Ki Jai: Rajnath Singh's First Response After Indian Army Launches 'Operation Sindoor'

Two weeks after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces on Tuesday carried out missile attacks on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of Wednesday.

The attack was carried out at Bahawalpur which is a major base of Jaish-e-Mohammad terror outfit. India has launched the attack under 'Operation Sindoor', the Indian Army said.

"A little while ago, the Indian Armed forces launched 'Operation Sindoor', hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed," the Army said.

It noted that the attack was "focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature". "No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution," the Indian Army added.

In his first response to the attack, Defence Minister wrote in a post on X: "Bharat Mata ki Jai."

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also lauded the Indian Army. In a post on X, he wrote, "Jai Hind! Jai Hind Ki Sena!"

Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu wrote: "Jai Hind!"

The decision to carry out attack comes after Prime Minister Modi on April 29 gave the armed forces "complete operational freedom" to decide on the mode, targets and timing of the response to the Pahalgam terror attack. He also emphasised the national resolve to deal a "crushing blow to terrorism".

Meanwhile, a report in News18 claims that 12 terrorists have been killed in the attack.
