Bengaluru, Oct 21: In an attempt to execute the noble plan of transporting the "live organs" of a brain dead woman successfully, the Bengaluru City police reached out people on social networking site Facebook.
Earlier also, Bengaluru has achieved the feat of saving lives by transporting organs like hearts, kidneys and livers to the needy patients, by creating green corridor and coordinating with the traffic police, for smooth and hassle-free transportation. [Bengaluru does it again: Live heart successfully airlifted to Hyderabad]
This time, the organs were transported from Apollo hospital, Mysore to Apollo hospital, B G road, Bengaluru.
For a heart to remain alive, after it was extracted from a body, it was difficult to survive for three hours, but with Bengaluru Traffic police coordination with the medical staff, it reached its destination, without any obstacle.
To carry out the plan, Bengaluru Traffic Police arranged for signal free green corridor from Kengeri to Apollo hospital, B G road, as per doctors' request.
Bengaluru Police made a special announcement on LIVE ORGAN transportation on Facebook. The ambulance carrying live organs reached Apollo hospital at 4.38 pm.
