Bengali TV actor found dead in mysterious circumstances

Kolkata, May 16: A television actor was today found dead under mysterious circumstances in a pond near his home in the city, police said.

Actor Ronnie Chakroborty's body was recovered from a water body near his residence at Santoshpur in the southern part of the city early today. His family said he returned home at about 1 AM today and went for a bath in the nearby pond.

"The body has been sent for post-mortem. We have launched an investigation into the case," a senior official of Kolkata Police said.

In another incident, a first year student of a renowned educational institute, who was from Patna, today died after falling from the sixth floor of his hostel.

According to a senior police official, the body was sent for post-mortem and investigation initiated. "We are looking into all aspects from the angles of suicide, accident, murder. We are waiting for the post-mortem report," the official said.
