Bengal madrasah teachers call off three-month long strike

Kolkata, Feb 23: Protesting teachers of unrecognised madrasahs in West Bengal withdrew their three-month-long hunger strike following Trinamool Congress Vice President Mukul Roy's assurance that their demands would be considered after the assembly polls.

"I appeal to you to withdraw your fast. Within a few days the assembly election will be announced. We cannot do anything at this juncture. But after the formation of the new government we will find a permanent solution to this problem through discussions," Roy said to the teachers on Monday.
