Bengal Bandh 28th August: Will Schools Be Closed Tomorrow Due To Bengal Bandh?
The BJP Bengal has called for a 12-hour bandh tomorrow to protest against police violence on students who were demonstrating over the recent rape and murder of a doctor in Kolkata. The situation turned chaotic on Tuesday as police clashed with demonstrators during the 'Nabanna Abhijan' march aimed at the Bengal Secretariat, leading to widespread disruption.
In response, the West Bengal government has stated that normalcy will be maintained and opposed the bandh. Public transport, including buses, is expected to run as usual.

Bengal Bandh August 28 Timing:
The BJP has scheduled the bandh from 6 AM to 6 PM on August 28.
Bengal Bandh Tomorrow: What's Closed, What's Open?
While the BJP has urged businesses to close their markets, there is no confirmation from market committees about the shutdown. Public transport and private offices might experience disruptions, but essential services like medical care, drinking water, public transport, rail services, and electricity are expected to operate normally.
Will Schools Be Closed Tomorrow Due To Bengal Bandh?
Government offices, banks, schools, and colleges are likely to remain open despite the bandh.
Why Is There a Bengal Bandh on August 28?
The bandh is called in response to alleged police brutality against students protesting the Kolkata doctor case. Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, condemned the police action and warned of a state-wide disruption if the violence against peaceful protesters continued. While BJP leaders have expressed support for the protests, they deny direct involvement in the rally, which has seen some leftist student groups distancing themselves from the event, accusing BJP and RSS leaders of hijacking the student movement.
