Beef Fat in Tirupati Laddoos Confirmed: Lab Report From Gujarat Sparks Uproar

Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged use of animal fat in the preparation of Tirupati laddoos during the previous administration, a new lab report has surfaced confirming the presence of animal fats and fish oil in the laddoos offered as prasad at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh.

The dispute began when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu claimed that animal fat was used in making the renowned Tirupati laddoos, demanding strict action against those responsible.

Following Naidu's allegations, a report from NDDB CALF revealed that the ghee samples used in making the laddoos contained foreign fats, including palm oil, fish oil, beef tallow, and lard, which is derived from pig fat. NDDB is a private lab specialising in testing animal feed, milk, and related products.

In response, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) strongly criticized CM Naidu for his claims, accusing him of undermining the sanctity of the deity and hurting the sentiments of devotees.

Y S Sharmila, state Congress chief and sister of YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, called for a CBI investigation into Naidu's allegations. She condemned the politicization of the sacred Tirupati laddoos, stating that such claims were "heinous."

During a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) legislative meeting, TDP leader N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the former YSRCP government compromised the quality of ingredients used in the laddoos, even incorporating animal fat in the process.

Sharmila criticized Naidu for hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus, urging the government to form a high-level committee or involve the CBI to investigate whether animal fat had indeed replaced ghee in the laddoos.

YSRCP's Rajya Sabha MP Y. V. Subba Reddy further condemned Naidu's allegations, stating that such claims not only tarnished the sanctity of the deity but also deeply offended devotees. "It is unthinkable that animal fat was used in the sacred food offered to the deity," Reddy said, calling it a grave insult.

In a bold move, Reddy challenged Naidu to swear an oath in front of Lord Venkateswara if he stood by his accusations. "I am ready to take an oath before the deity with my family. Will you do the same?" he asked.
