"Batenge Toh Katenge": Yogi Adityanath's Latest Call For Unity Sparks Debate
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasised the importance of national unity, referencing neighbouring Bangladesh as a cautionary example. He stated, "Batenge toh katenge (If we are divided, we will be destroyed)." The Chief Minister stressed that the nation can only be empowered through unity.
Speaking at a rally in Agra, he said, "Nothing can be above the nation. And the nation will be empowered only when we are united." He pointed to Bangladesh's current situation, urging that such mistakes should not be repeated in India. "You are seeing what is happening in Bangladesh. Those mistakes should not be repeated here... batenge to katenge, ek rahenge to nek rahenge," he added.

Unity Over Divisiveness
The Chief Minister accused the Opposition of engaging in divisive politics and prioritising votebanks over the welfare of Hindus in Bangladesh. He criticised their silence on the persecution of Hindus and the demolition of temples in Bangladesh following Sheikh Hasina's resignation as Prime Minister.
"While the opposition is quick to speak out on global issues, it has remained conspicuously silent about the persecution of Hindus and the demolition of temples in Bangladesh. They see Palestine but turn a blind eye to Bangladesh because its fears losing their vote bank," he said.
Adityanath urged citizens to unite against forces that seek to divide society for selfish gains. "We must unite to expose and counter those divisive forces that seek to fracture society for their petty interests," he added.
Call for Vigilance
In his address, Adityanath issued a veiled warning against allowing divisiveness to take root in society. "We will work for unity. We will not allow anyone any scope of spreading divisiveness in society, be it in the name of caste, region, language, or any other ground. We should be wary of such people and we should do our duty as citizens," he added.
The Chief Minister's remarks come amid rising concerns about social cohesion and national integrity. His call for unity underscores the need for collective action against divisive elements within society.
Adityanath's speech highlighted the importance of staying united to ensure national strength and stability. By drawing parallels with Bangladesh's current turmoil, he aimed to remind citizens of the potential consequences of division.
The rally concluded with a strong message: unity is paramount for national empowerment and progress. The Chief Minister's words serve as a reminder that collective effort is essential in maintaining societal harmony and national integrity.
