Justice Delayed: Policemen on the Run in UP Farmers Murder Case

Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh: In a shocking turn of events, seven individuals, including six police personnel, have been declared absconders in connection with the murder of a farmer named Santosh Kumar Sharma in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The victim's family members allege that Sharma died after being brutally beaten by the staff of the Sardar Nagar outpost in the city.

Tragic Incident and Subsequent Investigation

The incident occurred on November 8 when the accused policemen arrived in a private ambulance at the victim's village in search of gamblers. As the gamblers managed to escape, Santosh, who was returning from his farm, was questioned by the police. When he denied any knowledge of the gamblers, the police allegedly started thrashing him, accusing him of withholding information.

The police personnel allegedly attacked Santosh fatally on the head with the butts of their rifles. Believing him to be dead, the cops fled the scene. Tragically, Santosh succumbed to his injuries on November 10 while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Post-Mortem Report and Suspension of Accused

The post-mortem report revealed that the victim had sustained severe injuries. As soon as the information about Santosh's death and the primary cause came to light, the accused policemen were suspended on charges of indiscipline and negligence.

Non-Bailable Warrants and Absconding Accused

Despite the suspension, the accused policemen went absconding soon after the incident. The police obtained non-bailable warrants against them from the court on November 23, but they remain at large.

Court Declares Accused Absconders

On Friday, the court declared all seven accused, including Sub-Inspectors Tinku Kumar and Nepal Singh, constables Deepak, Pushpendra Rana, Manoj, Ankit, and ambulance driver Vijay, as absconders. Notices of attachment of their property in case of non-arrest or non-appearance have also been pasted on their houses on the orders of the court.

The absconding of the accused in this case has raised serious concerns about accountability and justice for the victim's family. The police are actively searching for the accused, and further action is underway to bring them to justice and ensure a fair trial.
