Bank Holidays In October 2024: Banks across India will be closed for 15 days due to a combination of national and regional holidays. Major festivals like Diwali, Saptami, and Dussehra will lead to bank closures in several parts of the country. Individuals are encouraged to plan their banking activities in advance to avoid disruptions.

In addition to these holidays, banks across India remain closed on all Sundays as well as the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. Though physical bank branches will be closed on these dates, digital banking services such as mobile apps, UPI, IMPS, and net banking will remain fully operational, allowing customers to continue their transactions without any interruption.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issues an annual list of holidays, considering national events, regional festivals, and standard weekend closures.

October 1: Banks in Jammu will be closed for Legislative Assembly 2024.
October 2: Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday, will see banks closed nationwide.
October 3: Navratra Sthapna will result in bank closures in Rajasthan.
October 10: Banks in Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and West Bengal will be closed for Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Saptami).
October 12: Dussehra, a major festival, will lead to nationwide bank closures. This date also coincides with the second Saturday of the month.
October 14: Banks in Sikkim will be closed for Durga Puja (Dasain).
October 16: Lakshmi Puja will see bank closures in Tripura and West Bengal.
October 17: Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti/Kati Bihu will result in bank holidays in Karnataka, Assam, and Himachal Pradesh.
October 26: Banks in Jammu and Srinagar will observe a holiday for Accession Day.
October 31: Diwali (Deepavali), Kali Puja, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Birthday will result in bank closures across most states, except Tripura, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Manipur, and Meghalaya.

Weekend Closures
In addition to the above holidays, banks will remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
