Bangladesh Crisis: Here's What Rahul Gandhi Said At Jaishankar's All-Party Meeting

In a significant all-party meeting chaired by S Jaishankar, leaders from India's political spectrum united to discuss the Bangladesh crisis. The meeting saw unanimous support for the government's stance, with concerns raised regarding foreign involvement and the safety of minorities.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar chaired an all-party meeting on Tuesday to discuss the crisis in Bangladesh.

The gathering included leaders from the ruling National Democratic Alliance and senior opposition figures, such as Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha.

In the meeting, Jaishankar noted that all parties unanimously supported the government's stance on Bangladesh. He shared photographs of the event on social media, stating, "Briefed an All-Party meeting in Parliament today about the ongoing developments in Bangladesh. Appreciate the unanimous support and understanding that was extended."

Rahul Gandhi's Concerns

Rahul Gandhi raised questions about India's foreign policy amid recent events in Bangladesh. He expressed his support for government measures but also voiced concerns about potential foreign involvement in the crisis. Additionally, he highlighted issues faced by minorities in Bangladesh, citing reports of attacks on their properties.

The situation in Bangladesh escalated when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled Dhaka due to security concerns. She landed at Ghaziabad's Hindon air base and was taken to a safe house. Her government had been dealing with violent protests over job quotas for select groups supporting her.

Developments in Bangladesh

The protests led to clashes resulting in hundreds of deaths among students and security personnel. Following these events, the Bangladeshi army announced plans to form an interim government soon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously chaired a Cabinet Committee on Security meeting regarding this issue on Monday. This highlights the seriousness with which India is monitoring the situation.
