New Delhi, Jan 15: Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan who is known for his controversial remark has done it again. Khan who is Uttar Pradesh urban development Minister has said that BJP leader Sakshi Maharaj is responsible for the Unnao incident where more than 100 dead bodies were found floating in the Ganga.

When prodded about the issue, Khan as quoted by India Today said, "I came to know that Sakshiji has done this. He brought these bodies in a truck and threw them into the river. He is doing this to malign the state government," Azam told the media on Thursday. "Unnao MP is the main culprit. This was why he came to know about those floating bodies first and started making noise over it".

Unnao incident: Onus on Sakshi Maharaj?

Terming it mere a blame game, Unnao MP Sakshi Maharaj said, "Was the state government sleeping when I was bringing the dead bodies in the truck? Azam's statement proves that the state government doesn't take the issue seriously. The SP government had submitted an affidavit in the Supreme Court that not a single body would be thrown into river Ganga. Azam must admit his failure and resign."

Earlier after the incident came to light, BJP MP had blamed State government directly for the incident.

This horrible incident hit the headlines on Jan 13 when scores of dead bodies were found floating in the Ganga river in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district. More than a hundred bodies, in various stages of decay, could be seen floating near Periyar ghat.

At a time when communal harmony in the country is already at risk, Khan's statement may vitiate the animosity between two communities-Hindu and Muslims.
