Ayurveda Promoted at G-20 and BRICS Meetings by Secretary Rajesh Kotecha

India is actively engaging with various nations to promote Ayurveda, its traditional wellness system. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Union Ministry of Ayush, highlighted this during a press conference at the 10th World Ayurveda Congress. He mentioned that discussions with international groups like G-20, BRICS, and BIMSTEC have been fruitful regarding Ayurveda's global reach.

Ayurveda Discussed at G-20 and BRICS Meetings

Ayurveda products are now reaching 156 countries, reflecting their growing global demand. The United Nations has also established its first WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This development underscores the increasing recognition of traditional medicine on the world stage.

Ayurveda's Global Expansion

Kotecha noted that India cannot exert diplomatic pressure but can inspire other nations towards Ayurveda. Clinical research is being conducted internationally, with India offering financial aid and scholarships. The number of countries involved has risen from 19 to 84 over recent years.

The Ayush research portal has registered over 43,000 publications, showcasing the extensive research in this field. Additionally, Mission Utkarsh has been launched to address anaemia among young women in tribal areas. This initiative is part of broader efforts to improve health outcomes using traditional medicine.

Government Initiatives and Support

The National AYUSH Mission, initiated in 2015, receives 60% funding from the central government and 40% from state governments. This collaborative effort aims to enhance the infrastructure and accessibility of traditional medicine across India.

In 2022, the Union Home Ministry introduced the Ayush Visa Policy to facilitate international travel for Ayurveda treatments. This policy is expected to boost medical tourism and further promote Ayurveda globally.

Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan

The Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan aims to assess one crore individuals by December 26. Managed by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine under the Ministry of Ayush, this campaign seeks to determine each person's unique mind-body constitution based on Ayurvedic principles.

These initiatives reflect India's commitment to integrating Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare while promoting it internationally. The strategic partnerships and policies are designed to enhance global awareness and acceptance of this ancient wellness system.
