Ayodhya Ram Mandir Chief Priest Acharya Mahant Satyendra Passes Away At 85
Chief priest of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, Acharya Mahant Satyendra Das passed away on Wednesday. He was 85-years-old. According to the reports, Acharya died following a stroke that led to his hospitalization at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow. Recognized for his devotion to spiritual service from a young age, Mahant Das had been at the forefront of religious affairs in Ayodhya, offering insights into the temple's developments and broader spiritual matters.
Mahant Das's health had been declining, plagued by diabetes and high blood pressure, which necessitated advanced medical intervention. Initially receiving care at a private facility in Ayodhya, his condition warranted a transfer to SGPGI, indicating the seriousness of his health challenges. In a gesture of concern, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally visited him at SGPGI on Tuesday evening, underscoring the priest's significance to the community and the state.

Since assuming his role as chief priest nine months before the historical Babri Masjid demolition on December 6, 1992, Mahant Das became a pivotal figure in the religious landscape of Ayodhya. His affiliation with the Nirvani Akhara only added to his stature, solidifying his reputation as a dedicated spiritual leader. His approachability made him a beloved figure, not just in religious circles but also among the media and the public, who sought his wisdom on various matters.
