Assembly Polls 2023: 'Vote From Home' Exercise Begins For Voters Above 80 Years

The Election Commission has introduced the "vote-from-home" option for elderly voters and those with over 40% disability in the five states assembly elections 2023. In Chhattisgarh, more than 6,400 voters have opted for this convenient voting method. In Madhya Pradesh, according to guidelines issued by the Election Commission, the process started on November 6 and will continue until November 9 in Indore district.

The "vote-from-home" process involves sharing details of eligible absentee voters with representatives of all political parties.

Registered individuals are informed in advance about the voting procedure, which includes mandatory video recording.

After casting their votes, the ballots will be securely transported to the counting center's high-security room, with vote counting scheduled for May 13.

To facilitate the process, a team of two senior officials is assigned to visit each voter's home.

If a voter is unavailable during the initial visit, a second attempt is made, but failure to meet the officials during the second visit results in disqualification from voting.

Absentee voters are not permitted to visit polling stations on the day of the election.
