Assam Police Team Arrives in Singapore to Investigate Singer Zubeen Garg's Mysterious Death

Two senior officers from the Assam Police have arrived in Singapore to investigate the sudden and puzzling death of celebrated singer Zubeen Garg. The renowned artist had travelled to the island nation last month to perform at an event when the tragic incident occurred.

Senior Officers Lead the International Investigation

According to a senior official, CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta and Titabor Co-District SP Tarun Goel reached Singapore on a direct flight from Guwahati. Both are part of a nine-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed under the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Assam Police.

This high-profile visit marks a key step in the ongoing inquiry, as public pressure continues to grow with over 60 FIRs filed across Assam concerning Garg's death.

Focus on the Scene of the Incident

While officials have not disclosed detailed information about the investigation, sources suggest that the team will visit the exact location where Garg is believed to have died.

"Linking the series of events with the place of occurrence is one of the most important aspects of the entire investigation process. Besides, the Assam Police team will sit with their counterparts in Singapore to discuss the case," the source told PTI.

Zubeen Garg reportedly drowned while swimming in the sea on September 19, during his visit to Singapore to attend the 4th edition of the North East India Festival.

Family's Faith in Justice

Garg's wife, Garima, said that both the family and the people of Assam are waiting to understand what transpired in his final moments. She expressed confidence in the legal process to bring the truth to light.

Seven Arrests Made as Probe Intensifies

The 10-member SIT of the state CID continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Garg's death. So far, seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the case.

Those detained include NEIF organiser Mahanta, Garg's manager Sharma, his cousin and police officer Sandipan, band members Sekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprava Mahanta, as well as his personal security officers Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya.
