Assam Congress MLA Aftabuddin Mollah In Custody For Derogatory Remarks Against Priests And Seers
Congress MLA Aftabuddin Mollah has been arrested by the Assam Police on charges of reportedly making offensive comments regarding priests, namgharias, and saints.
According to the Director General of Police GP Singh, a case has been filed at the Dispur Police station under Sections 295(a), 153A(1)(b), and 505(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as reported by the news agency ANI.

It is alleged that the Congress MLA gave hate speech, directing it towards priests, Namgharias, and seers, during a public gathering in Goalpara district on November 4.
He had said, "Wherever there is a Rape, always a "Sadhu" (Hindu Priest) or "Namghoria" (care taker of Vaisnav Prayer House) are involved. They blame Muslims to hide their own sins committed by Hindu Priests.''
Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Borah clarified that as per Supreme Court directives on Hate speech Congress MLA Aftabuddin Mollah is arrested on receipt of complaint, beside that Police can also take Suo Motu actions, if found any speech can create communal disharmony.
