Speaking to News18 on 23 December, Sarma discussed both the Bangladesh lynching and domestic political rows. Sarma later posted a clip of the interview on X, previously Twitter, on 24 December and added a sharp caption that directly questioned a Congress leader.

In the video shared on X, Sarma wrote, "If my son were to have ties with Pakistan, I would disown him. Once the evidence becomes public, the question is: Will the Congress leader whose wife has ties with Pakistan have the courage to disown her?" The line echoed Sarma's comments in the channel interview.

During the News18 programme, Sarma expanded on this stance using strong personal examples. Sarma said, "If one becomes Pakistani, how can I have a relation with them? That applies to my son also, that applies to my mother also. If my son becomes close to Pakistan, I have to officially say that he is not my son. So that's the responsibility we carry. If I also falter in this war, it would be right if my mother says that I am not her son."

Although Sarma did not name anyone in the clip itself, News18 reported that the comments referred to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and Gogoi's wife Elizabeth. Sarma has repeatedly claimed that Elizabeth "works for Pakistan", and used the interview to restate those accusations while stressing Sarma's role as chief minister.

Sarma said, "She works for the state of Pakistan and I have evidence with me. I have clear evidences and I am saying with whole lot of responsibility as the Chief Minister of Assam, I have clear evidences that she is a part of cartel who helps Pakistan," asserting that proof existed but was not detailed publicly in the broadcast.

Alongside these claims, Sarma spoke about the Bangladesh lynching of Hindu worker Dipu Chandra Das, and argued that the emotional response should not depend on religion. Sarma said that the pain and anger would have been similar if a person from any other faith had faced the same attack.

Sarma later wrote on X, "The way in which Shri Deepu Das was lynched makes one angry for two reasons. First, are the people who commit such acts even human? Second, he was killed because Deepu was a Hindu!" Sarma's post connected the incident with wider concerns about targeted violence.

According to reports from Dhaka Tribune, 27-year-old factory worker Dipu Chandra Das was lynched in Bangladesh last week and the body was then set on fire. Initial claims suggested an alleged "blasphemy" row sparked the mob, but police, family members and local representatives later indicated that a dispute at the workplace was more likely to have triggered the attack.

Sarma's remarks placed the Bangladesh lynching, Sarma's stand on Pakistan links, and the allegations against Gaurav Gogoi's wife within one broader message on loyalty and national security, while also insisting that communal identity should not change how people view such acts of violence.
