Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Says Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Received Training In Pakistan

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday came out all guns blazing at Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi and targeted him for visiting Pakistan on an alleged invitation of Pakistan's ISI. Himanta Sarma claimed Gogoi went to Pakistan for "training" and stated, "We have that document." He further alleged that Gogoi received a letter from the Pakistan Home Department, not from any cultural or external affairs ministry. Sarma emphasized the seriousness of this matter and hinted at further actions.

In another development, Sarma expressed satisfaction over the inclusion of three MPs from the Northeast in an Indian delegation. This group will visit several national capitals to discuss India's stance on terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. He remarked, "We are very happy that three important MPs from the Northeast have been included." The delegation includes one MP from Nagaland and two from Assam.

Delegation's Role in Global Representation

The Assam CM highlighted the significance of these MPs representing India on a global platform. He stated, "We are feeling extremely proud, and we feel that all the MPs from our region will be able to contribute meaningfully in representing India on the global platform." This delegation aims to showcase India's ongoing fight against terrorism and Operation Sindoor.

Earlier, Sarma urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to remove Gaurav Gogoi as his deputy in Lok Sabha. He suggested dropping Gogoi from a list of four parliamentarians proposed by the opposition for delegations abroad. These delegations are meant to explain India's position on terrorism backed by Pakistan.

Concerns Over National Security

Sarma reposted a list shared by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on X, expressing concerns about including Gogoi in all-party delegations. He argued it was "in the interest of national security" not to include him. The CM alleged that an unnamed MP from Assam had not denied staying in Pakistan for two weeks. Additionally, he claimed credible documents showed Gogoi's wife was receiving a salary from a Pakistan-based NGO while working in India.
