The Games' emblem, named 'Surging Tides,' was unveiled during a ceremony in Hangzhou, symbolizing a combination of a hand fan, a running track, the Qiantang River, and radio waves (representing wireless connectivity). Additionally, the three mascots, known collectively as 'Memories of Jiangnan,' were named Congcong, Lianlian, and Chenchen.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games was initially slated for 2022 but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic in China last year. In the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta, India sent a contingent comprising 570 athletes and achieved a remarkable tally of 70 medals, including an impressive haul of 16 gold medals. This achievement marked a historic high for India in terms of medal count at the Asian Games.
