Asian Games 2023: India Bags 8th Gold, Moves Up To 4th Position In Medals Table
On day six of the Asian Games, India has bagged two golds along with two silver medals.
The Indian men's shooting trio Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Suresh Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran on Friday secured India's seventh Gold medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team event.

They broke the world record, achieving an impressive score of 1769. India is now in the fourth position in the points table in the Asian Games 2023.
The second gold for the day was bagged by 17-year-old Palak Gulia who won India's third individual gold in shooting in the women's 10m air pistol. Whereas Esha Singh earned a silver.
In another event, the women's team of Palak, Esha Singh, and Divya Subbaraju bagged a silver medal in the 10m air pistol team event.
So far, the Indian contingent has earned 8 gold, 11 silver, and 11 bronze medals. It has bagged a total of 30 medals.
India had a remarkable performance at the 2018 Asian Games held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. The Indian contingent secured a total of 70 medals, comprising 16 gold, 23 silver, and 31 bronze medals. It was one of India's best performances at the Asian Games.
In the ongoing event, China leads the medal standings, with an impressive total of 167 medals, consisting of 90 gold, 51 silver, and 26 bronze. South Korea is in the second position with 24 gold, 23 silver, and 39 bronze, taking its medal tally to 86. Japan has taken third place with 18 gold, 30 silver and 30 bronze.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the winners. On X, he said, "Another medal in Shooting at the Asian Games! Congratulations to Divya Thadigol, Esha Singh and Palak on winning a Silver Medal in the 10m Air Pistol Women's team event. Best wishes to them for their future endeavours. Their success will motivate several upcoming sportspersons."
