Ashok Gehlot Defends Mental Fitness After Rajasthan CM Sharma's Comments

A verbal clash has erupted between Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Ashok Gehlot. The conflict began when Sharma accused Gehlot of having "lost his mental balance." This comment followed Gehlot's criticism of the Rajasthan BJP's decision to conduct a three-day training camp for its MPs and MLAs in Kevadia, Gujarat.

Gehlot Hits Back at Sharmas Remarks

Gehlot expressed surprise at the BJP's choice of a "luxurious tented resort" for the training. He questioned why such training was necessary after one and a half years of government formation. "Does the BJP high command feel the Rajasthan government has failed, and hence there is a need for training?" Gehlot asked in a post on X.

Political Tensions Rise Over Training Camp

Sharma responded to Gehlot's remarks during an event in Vadodara, saying, "Gehlot has criticised the BJP for arranging this programme near the Statue of Unity in Narmada district. I think Gehlot has lost his mental balance." He further claimed that Congress is now confined to a few states due to ignoring leaders like Sardar Patel.

Gehlot defended himself, stating, "I am perfectly healthy and mentally fit. I wish to live till the age of 100 so that I can continue serving the people of Rajasthan." He emphasised that his comments were not just criticisms but also advice.

Opposition Criticises Government's Priorities

Tikaram Jully, leader of opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, questioned whether an "untrained" government had been running the state for over a year. "The chief minister, his Cabinet and the entire BJP legislative party are taking training on governance in Gujarat," Jully remarked.

Jully also commented on the timing of the training camp. He noted that while essential services like electricity and water need attention, the government was "having fun on the banks of Narmada." This statement highlighted concerns about government priorities during critical times.

Gehlot reiterated his commitment to serving Rajasthan, saying, "Mahatma Gandhi said he wanted to live for 125 years to serve the people. I also want to live for at least 100 years so that I can serve the people of Rajasthan." He assured that his mental health remains intact.

The ongoing exchange between Sharma and Gehlot reflects deeper political tensions. The debate over governance and priorities continues as both leaders stand firm in their positions. The situation underscores differing views on leadership and responsibility within Rajasthan's political landscape.
