Asaduddin Owaisi Concludes Lok Sabha Oath With 'Jai Palestine' Slogan, BJP Furious
Asaduddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP and president of AIMIM, chanted "Jai Palestine" as he took his oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha.
The moment Owaisi's name was called in, BJP MP started chanting "Jai Shree Ram" in unison. Unfazed, Owaisi went ahead and completed his oath in Urdu and ended it with "Jai Bhim, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine".

As the controversy snowballed, Owaisi later said that there is no constitutional provision preventing him from saying "Jai Palestine."
In the 2019 Lok Sabha, Owaisi concluded his oath with "Jai Bhim, Allah-o-Akbar, and Jai Hind." His recent re-election victory was over BJP candidate Madhavi Latha from the Hyderabad constituency in the 2024 elections.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy slammed Owaisi's "Jai Palestine" slogan as "absolutely wrong" and against the Constitution.
"On one hand, he is taking an oath in the name of the Constitution and, on the other, giving a slogan against the Constitution. The real face of Owaisi is out. Every day, they raise issues against the country and the Constitution," Reddy said.
Reacting to the controversy, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "We do not support or oppose any country, but it is not right to take the name of any country in the House."
Owaisi has previously commented on the Israel-Gaza conflict, highlighting that it concerns humanity at large and condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, which began eight months ago, has resulted in thousands of casualties and millions being displacement.
