ED Summons Kejriwal Again, AAP Cries Foul, BJP Hits Back
The Enforcement Directorates fresh summons to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has triggered a political storm, with AAP labeling it as political posturing and BJP accusing AAP of corruption.
The Enforcement Directorate's (ED) latest summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has drawn sharp criticism from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has termed it a political move by the central government rather than a genuine legal process.

AAP's Response
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj expressed his concerns, stating that the summons appear to be more of a political posturing than a legitimate legal process. He highlighted that Kejriwal is currently away on a Vipassana meditation course and questioned the timing of the summons. The party also released an official statement, asserting that the case against Kejriwal is entirely fabricated and politically motivated, with no evidence presented in court. The statement further clarified that they cannot confirm the receipt of the latest summons as Kejriwal is currently incommunicado during his meditation course.
AAP Spokesperson's Comments
Priyanka Kakkar, the AAP's chief national spokesperson, echoed similar sentiments, calling the case politically motivated and orchestrated by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She pointed out that Kejriwal's absence due to his Vipassana course raises questions about the validity of the summons.
Earlier Developments
This is the third summons issued to Kejriwal by the ED after he failed to appear before the agency on two previous occasions, on November 2 and December 21. The Delhi chief minister is currently undertaking a 10-day Vipassana meditation course and had sent his reply to the ED on Wednesday before leaving for an undisclosed location.
Kejriwal's Allegations
Kejriwal, while skipping the second summons, alleged that these actions were politically motivated and aimed at silencing the voice of the opposition in the lead-up to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
The AAP's strong reaction to the ED's summons reflects the party's belief that the case against Kejriwal is politically driven and lacks a solid legal basis. The party's concerns about the timing of the summons and Kejriwal's absence due to his meditation course further add to the controversy surrounding this issue.
