Arvind Kejriwal Allotted House Number 95 in Lodhi Estate After Delhi High Court Reprimand

After a year-long wait and a reprimand from the Delhi High Court, the central government has finally allotted a new government house to Arvind Kejriwal, national coordinator of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi. Kejriwal has been allotted Government House No. 95 in the prestigious Lodhi Estate area of Delhi, in his capacity as the national party president.

Following his resignation as Chief Minister, Kejriwal did not receive a government residence for nearly a year. Despite multiple applications and correspondence, the allotment did not happen, prompting him to approach the Delhi High Court. In March 2025, Kejriwal argued that, as the head of a national political party, he was entitled to a government house, but the central government was deliberately delaying the process. The government, in response, stated that a suitable house was being identified.

The case hearing was postponed several times, with no concrete decision made in April, June, and August 2025. Finally, in September 2025, the Delhi High Court reprimanded the central government, stating that denying a house to an elected national party head after a year reflected administrative insensitivity. The court issued a strict 10-day deadline for the government to allot a suitable residence.

Following the court's direction, the central government allotted House No. 95 in Lodhi Estate to Kejriwal. Lodhi Estate is a VVIP area in Delhi, home to several central ministers, Supreme Court judges, and senior bureaucrats. Kejriwal's new residence is expected to serve as the headquarters for AAP's national activities and political work.

Politically, this allotment is seen not only as an administrative step but also as a symbolic victory for Kejriwal. After a year-long delay, court intervention, and repeated assurances from the government, he has finally received the residence. Kejriwal is expected to move into Lodhi Estate soon, from where he will oversee the national expansion of the party and plan strategies for upcoming elections.
