Gujarat drugs gateway claims: Arvind Kejriwal cites Mundra Port seizure and CAG report

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal alleged Gujarat has become a major gateway for drugs into India, citing the 2021 Mundra Port seizure and a CAG report on missing narcotics. He said Punjab has reduced cross-border smuggling from Pakistan by deploying anti-drone systems to intercept drones before they enter the state.

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday alleged that Gujarat is now a main entry point for drugs in India. Arvind Kejriwal said the shift happened despite the state being governed by the BJP. Arvind Kejriwal spoke after a meeting of the Punjab State Traders Commission (PSTC). Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also attended.

Arvind Kejriwal linked the claim to past drug routes into Punjab. "When we took charge when AAP came to power in Punjab, 70 per cent of the drugs came from Pakistan through drones, and 30 per cent came from Gujarat. Now, 70 per cent of the drugs come from Gujarat. 70 per cent of the chitta adulterated heroin comes from Gujarat,\" Arvind Kejriwal said.

Gujarat drugs and major seizures

Arvind Kejriwal referred to the 2021 seizure at Mundra Port in Gujarat. Around 3,000 kilograms of drugs were seized, valued at Rs 21,000 crore. Arvind Kejriwal said the haul raised wider concerns about undetected trafficking. \"That was only what was caught. Nobody knows how much escapes detection every day.\"

Arvind Kejriwal also cited a CAG report from last year. The report said 2,200 kilograms of drugs in Gujarat were supposedly eaten by rats. Arvind Kejriwal questioned the explanation. \"According to a CAG report last year, 2,200 kilograms of drugs in Gujarat were supposedly eaten by rats... No one knows what really happened to those drugs.\"

Continuing the attack on the BJP, Arvind Kejriwal used the term \"ED Party\". \"Today, Gujarat has become the gateway for drugs across the country, and that too falls under the ED Party a reference to the BJP.\" Arvind Kejriwal said Punjab is still tackling the drug problem. Arvind Kejriwal described the work as ongoing.

Punjab drugs and enforcement steps

Arvind Kejriwal said the AAP government reduced inflow from Pakistan using anti-drone systems. The systems were installed along the Punjab-Pakistan border. Arvind Kejriwal said they intercept and destroy drones before entry. Arvind Kejriwal also said action is continuing against drug peddlers and larger traffickers across Punjab.

Arvind Kejriwal alleged earlier coalitions enabled the spread of drugs in Punjab. \"Who initiated the drug epidemic in Punjab? When the ED Party and the Chitta Party were in coalition, drugs infiltrated every household. Their ministers used to transport and distribute drugs in their vehicles,\" Arvind Kejriwal said. Arvind Kejriwal claimed properties of drug smugglers are being demolished.

Arvind Kejriwal said the Punjab Police has widened action beyond peddlers. Arvind Kejriwal added that hawala operators are also being targeted. \"As of yesterday, the Punjab Police has also started taking action against hawala operators who assist in sending drug money abroad,\" Arvind Kejriwal said. Arvind Kejriwal said AAP will keep working for five more years, with public support.

Punjab drugs and Lawrence Bishnoi claims

Arvind Kejriwal also spoke about jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi is imprisoned in Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail. Arvind Kejriwal called Lawrence Bishnoi the \"damaad\" of the \"ED Party\". Arvind Kejriwal alleged Lawrence Bishnoi has protection and can keep running a global network from jail.

\"The Union Home Ministry has issued orders that nobody can take him out of that jail. Sitting there, he continues to run his entire network throughout the world. If any crime linked to him occurs in Punjab, the Punjab Police cannot bring him here. Investigators have to go to Sabarmati jail to question him,\" Arvind Kejriwal said.

Punjab drugs and political donation claims

Arvind Kejriwal also raised allegations about political funding. Arvind Kejriwal said that in 2025, the \"ED Party\" received Rs 60 crore from Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal said AAP received Rs 70 lakh. Arvind Kejriwal said the money came from traders, industrialists, companies, and businesses in Punjab.

\"The ED Party received Rs 60 crore from Punjabs traders, industrialists, companies, and businesses. How did they acquire this money? People were summoned and threatened with ED and CBI. Those who refused to pay faced ED raids. Weve witnessed numerous raids; some people get arrested, while in other cases, ED raids occur and then suddenly disappear. How do they vanish? The issues get resolved after donation payments are made,\" Arvind Kejriwal stated.

Arvind Kejriwal said the AAP government was running honestly. Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the party at the Centre collects donations through extortion. Arvind Kejriwal also said gangsters and drugs were key problems after AAP took power in Punjab. Arvind Kejriwal claimed no gangster emerged during AAP’s five years in government.

Punjab drugs and PSTC meeting focus

Arvind Kejriwal called small traders the backbone of the economy. Arvind Kejriwal said past governments ignored traders’ concerns and allowed harassment. Arvind Kejriwal said the Bhagwant Mann government ended extortion and set up the PSTC. Arvind Kejriwal said the commission aims to resolve even small issues quickly and fairly.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said Punjab is moving away from years of exploitation and misgovernance. Bhagwant Mann said the state is now focused on transparent, welfare-led governance. Bhagwant Mann said AAP can seek feedback after four years in office. Bhagwant Mann said work on irrigation, jobs, public services, and infrastructure has changed lives across Punjab.
