Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu Promises Education Transformation in Three Years
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has pledged significant improvements in the state's education sector over the next three years. He emphasised that the focus will be on providing quality education, enhancing infrastructure, and creating better opportunities for the youth. This announcement was made during a public gathering at Logum Jini near Aalo in West Siang district.

Brainstorming sessions are being conducted across the state to identify and address core issues in the education department. These sessions are led by Education Minister P D Sona and his advisor Mutchu Mithi. Once completed, a detailed report with recommendations will be submitted to the state government for action. "I promise that recommended reforms will be 100 per cent implemented on the ground," Khandu assured.
Focus on Quality Education
Khandu stressed that the quality of education is more important than the number of schools. The government plans to enhance inter-village schools by providing necessary facilities such as hostels, teachers, staff, and modern teaching methods. He urged for public support to implement these reforms, some of which may be challenging.
The chief minister highlighted the state's increasing revenue collection and projected a significant rise in revenue generation in the coming years. Hydropower is seen as a key revenue source, with Arunachal Pradesh holding 50 per cent of India's total hydropower capacity. The central government has agreed to provide a 26 per cent equity share for each project to the state, in addition to the existing 12 per cent free power quota.
Infrastructure Developments
Khandu announced the approval of a crucial road connection to Jirdin and Eyi via Bumri in West Siang, fulfilling an election promise. He also assured locals of developing a tourism site along the Yomgo River in Aalo township and called for a proper plan and design for it.
During his visit, Khandu inaugurated a newly constructed multipurpose hall and a walkway along the Yomgo River's banks. On Sunday, he visited Silluk Village, known as Arunachal Pradesh's cleanest village, located in the Mebo sub-division of East Siang district.
Community Engagement
At a public meeting in Silluk village, Khandu promised to expedite flood protection proposals and equip the Mebo CHC with doctors and manpower. In Pasighat, he inspected ongoing projects including a guest house under construction, market upgrades, and a recreation centre being developed under the Smart City Mission.
The chief minister's initiatives aim to uplift living conditions by generating more revenue and improving infrastructure. His commitment to implementing educational reforms reflects his dedication to enhancing opportunities for Arunachal Pradesh's youth.
