'Arrogance' of grand alliance leaders 'impediment' to Bihar's growth: Amit Shah

Nawada/Samastipur, Oct 11: As campaigning ended for the first phase of Bihar Assembly polls, BJP Chief Amit Shah on Saturday hit out at the grand alliance, saying that the arrogance of its leaders was an impediment to the growth of the state.

Addressing three poll rallies yesterday, he termed the partnership of RJD, JD(U) and Congress a "coalition of opportunists" and charged that they were only interested in their own welfare and not of the people of Bihar. [Bihar Assembly Elections 2015: Full Coverage]

Shah also said that "there will be a complete ban on cow slaughter if a BJP-led government comes to power in Bihar".

Addressing a rally in Nawada, he said, "It is the arrogance of the leaders of the 'opportunistic alliance' that is the chief impediment to Bihar's development."

Shah also sought to point out that his party has given the maximum number of chief ministers from the backward community.

The BJP chief also said that if the BJP-led NDA formed the next government in Bihar, unemployed youth in the state would not have to "head for Delhi and Mumbai".

He said that Bihar needed a government that could work "shoulder-to-shoulder" with the Centre to take the state forward on the path of development and stressed that the BJP- led alliance was the only one that could do so.
