Are You Stressed? YesMadam Sacks Employees After Taking Mental Health Update; HR's Email Goes Viral
YesMadam, a salon home service start-up, has recently faced criticism online. The company reportedly dismissed employees who admitted to experiencing "significant stress" in a survey conducted by the company itself. A screenshot of an email from the HR department announcing this decision has gone viral on social media.
The email, allegedly sent by YesMadam's HR manager, explained that the Delhi-NCR-based company had carried out the survey to gauge employee stress levels. The outcome was unexpected as it led to the termination of those who reported "major stress." However, India Today has not independently verified the authenticity of this viral email screenshot.

Online Backlash and Criticism
The email's direct tone and decision to dismiss stressed employees instead of addressing their concerns have sparked backlash online. One user criticised the move, calling it "the most bizarre layoffs," while another commented on how counterproductive and lacking empathy the decision was. Many users expressed disbelief at such an approach.
Shitiz Dogra, Associate Director of Digital Marketing at IndiGo, also shared the screenshot on LinkedIn. He questioned whether an organisation could fire someone for being stressed, highlighting that it seemed to have happened at YesMadam. His post further fuelled discussions about workplace stress management and employee well-being.

Company's Silence Amidst Controversy
Despite the growing controversy, YesMadam has not yet responded or issued any official statement regarding the situation. This silence has left many wondering about the company's stance on employee welfare and its future actions in addressing workplace stress effectively.
The viral screenshot reads: "Dear Team, Recently, we conducted a survey to understand your feelings about stress at work. Many of you shared your concerns, which we deeply value and respect. As a company committed to fostering a healthy and supportive work environment, we have carefully considered the feedback. To ensure that no one remains stressed at work, we have made the difficult decision to part ways with employees who indicated significant stress. This decision is effective immediately, and impacted employees will receive further details separately. Thank you for your contributions. Best regards, HR Manager, YesMadam."
As discussions continue online about this incident, it raises questions about how companies should handle employee stress and mental health issues in a supportive manner rather than resorting to drastic measures like termination.
