Apple Expands Presence In India: More Stores, Local iPhone 16 Pro Production
Apple, encouraged by the success of its flagship stores in India, is planning to expand with new retail outlets in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai.
Additionally, the company revealed that it is now producing the entire iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, in India.

Apple's senior vice president of Retail, Deirdre O'Brien, expressed excitement about the expansion, stating, "We are thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India, because we are inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country. We can't wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgeable team members."
In April 2023, Apple launched its first Indian store in Mumbai's BKC area, followed by another one in New Delhi's Saket the next day.
O'Brien highlighted the importance of these spaces, adding, "Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it's been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India." While the exact timeline and locations for the new stores are not confirmed, they are expected to be in prominent areas, as Apple Stores aim to replicate the feel of a town square.
The iPhone 16 series, which was released last month, will be manufactured in India for both the domestic market and select international markets.
Apple's manufacturing presence in India started in 2017 with the production of the iPhone SE. The company now partners with several manufacturers, primarily in southern India, and employs 3,000 workers directly, while its suppliers provide jobs for thousands more.
As part of its commitment to achieving full carbon neutrality across its supply chain by 2030, Apple has also announced a collaboration with CleanMax to expand clean energy capacity. This initiative will power Apple's offices, its two existing retail stores, and its broader operations in India.
