APCRDA Approves Rs 24,276 Crore for Infrastructure Development in Amaravati

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has sanctioned infrastructure projects worth Rs 24,276 crore for Amaravati. Municipal Minister P Narayana announced this on Monday. The approval, given during the 43rd APCRDA meeting, covers trunk roads, layouts, and iconic structures. "The 43rd CRDA meeting approved Rs 24,276 crore funds for the construction of trunk roads, layouts and iconic bhavans buildings in Amaravati capital," stated Narayana at a press conference.

Infrastructure Developments in Amaravati

In previous meetings, a total of Rs 45,249 crore was approved for various projects. Narayana highlighted that the new Assembly building will span 103 acres, covering 11.2 lakh sq ft and reaching a height of 250 metres. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from the top when the Assembly is not in session. The High Court building will cover 20.32 lakh sq ft on 42 acres, with eight storeys and a height of 55 metres.

The High Court's construction is estimated at Rs 1,048 crore. Additionally, the General Administration Department (GAD) building will feature 47 floors over a 17 lakh sq ft area. Five more towers are planned at a cost of Rs 4,688 crore, encompassing an area of 69 lakh sq ft. These developments aim to enhance Amaravati's infrastructure significantly.

Funding Allocation and Project Timeline

From the approved funds, Rs 9,699 crore is allocated for four main roads covering 580 km and other facilities. Another Rs 7,794 crore is designated for trunk roads and additional infrastructure. The tender process is set to begin on December 23 and aims to be mostly completed by the end of the month, with remaining tasks finalised by January.

Narayana emphasised their commitment to completing Amaravati's construction within three years. "At any cost, we will complete Amaravati capital construction in the next three years to make it one of the best five cities in the world," he added. This ambitious timeline reflects their dedication to transforming Amaravati into a leading global city.
