PV Anvar Demands High Court Investigation into Allegations Against Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Dissident LDF MLA PV Anvar has intensified his criticism of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the ruling CPIM. He is calling for a high court-supervised investigation into his allegations, which include accusations against a senior state police official. During a meeting in Nilambur, Anvar accused Vijayan, Additional Director General of Police Law and Order MR Ajithkumar, and a CPIM district secretary of unfairly expelling him from the Left Democratic Front (LDF) for demanding action against Ajithkumar.

Anvar Seeks Probe into Kerala CM Allegations

Anvar had previously challenged Vijayan to reinvestigate approximately 180 gold smuggling cases. He alleged that police procedures were not followed during the seizure of illegally imported gold. The Nilambur MLA convened the meeting after CPIM announced it had severed ties with him, accusing him of aligning with right-wing politics. Anvar claimed he was labelled communal for urging the party to reflect on its failures.

Allegations Against CPIM and Police

Anvar criticised the LDF government for its handling of the 2018 Sabarimala issue, which arose from a Supreme Court ruling allowing women of all ages to enter the shrine. He claimed he advised the Left party against implementing the order. Anvar also highlighted former health minister KK Shailja's defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from Vatakara, attributing it to CPIM's failure to address its shortcomings.

The MLA accused Vijayan of threatening him with a letter from the governor related to a phone tapping case. A case was filed against Anvar for allegedly tapping phone calls of senior police officials. He stated that even CPI, an ally of CPIM, demanded Ajithkumar's removal. "I am demanding the same," Anvar said, adding that Vijayan portrayed him as supporting smuggling gangs.

Call for Judicial Investigation

Anvar alleged that evidence he provided was sufficient to remove Ajithkumar from his position. "Can they suspend this notorious criminal?" he questioned, suggesting that Ajithkumar should be stripped of his uniform and publicly shamed. Anvar called for an independent investigation monitored by the high court, asserting that submitted evidence was being destroyed.

He accused CPIM district secretary EN Mohandas of having close ties with accused police officials and alleged an unholy alliance between political leaders in Kerala. Reiterating his claims about smuggled gold seizures, Anvar stated that 25% of Kerala's police force was criminalised. He also mentioned financial losses due to his association with CPIM.

Future Plans and Political Landscape

Anvar expressed disappointment over the lack of support from CPIM and Chief Minister Vijayan, whom he regarded as a father figure. He has made several allegations against Ajithkumar and Vijayan's political secretary P Sasi. Despite CPIM state secretary MV Govindan announcing the party's disassociation with Anvar, investigations into some allegations are ongoing.

During his speech, Anvar claimed that Sangh Parivar aims to gain power in Kerala by 2036, targeting 25 seats in the 2026 assembly elections. "They will get at least 20," he predicted, warning about their slow but steady approach. He emphasised that communal riots harm society and cited examples from north Indian states affected by such violence.

Anvar plans to develop a mobile application within 15-30 days to gather public opinion on his future political direction. "I will seek the opinion of the people," he said, considering options like joining Congress, Muslim League, or BJP or standing independently against them all. He intends to conduct a public survey before making any decisions.
