Another mid-air 'peeing' incident: US student urinates on man on Delhi-bound flight, held

Recently, reports of unruly passengers in drunken state aboard flights have gained a lot of attention with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) taking such incidents very seriously.

In another incident of unruly behaviour on air, a drunk student was held on Sunday for allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger on a New York-New Delhi American Airlines flight in a "drunken" state.

The incident allegedly took place on flight number AA292, which took off from New York at 9:16 pm on Friday and landed after 14 hours and 26 minutes of flying at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi at 10:12 pm on Saturday.

"The accused is a student in a US university. He was in a state of inebriation and urinated while he was asleep. It somehow leaked and fell on a fellow passenger who complained to the crew," news agency PTI reported quoting a source at the airport.

"Upon aircraft arrival, Purser informed that pax was heavily intoxicated. He urinated on pax seated on 15G," American Airlines said in a complaint.

"We along with CISF officer (at Delhi's IGI airport) disembarked passenger from aircraft who was still is in intoxicated condition. On basis of above we would be cancelling his travelling his return and future travel on our flight," American Airlines complaint read.

The victim, a male passenger, however was not keen on reporting the matter as the accused issued an apology and cited threats to his reputation and career. The airline, on its part, reported the matter to the Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the IGI airport, PTI said.

The pilot reported the matter to the authorities who further alerted the CISF personnel. The accused was then handed over to Delhi police, who recorded statements of the concerned people in the matter.

"Got complaint about a passenger urinating on another from American Airlines.Accused identified-Arya Vohra, a student in US. Legal action being taken," said DCP IGI airport.

"We have got a report from the concerned airline (American Airlines). They seem to have handled the situation professionally and have taken all appropriate actions," said Official, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

"We are in touch with the airline company (American Airlines) regarding sequence of events. The victim passenger neither wants his name to be made public nor does he want to register a complaint," said Delhi Police on the case of a student allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger.
