Andhra Pradesh: Blast at a stone quarry in Kurnool leaves 9 dead

Kurnool, Aug 3: At least nine people were killed and several injured in a blast in a granite quarry in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool district on Friday. The incident took place in a place called Hathi Belgal.

As per reports, such was the intensity of blast that its sound could be heard even 10 kms away.

Some houses in the nearby villages are also said to have developed cracks due to the blast.

There were nearly 30 workers at the quarry when the blast took place.

It is not yet know as to how many injured but reports say that some workers were rushed to the hospital with burn injuries.

Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot and the area has been cordened off.
