Andaman and Nicobar Islands Hit by 5.8 Magnitude Earthquake, Second in July
An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Saturday, as reported by the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The earthquake's epicenter was located at a depth of 69 kilometers, with coordinates of Latitude 10.75 and Longitude 93.47.
The NCS promptly tweeted the seismic event, providing essential details: "Earthquake of Magnitude: 5.8, Occurred on 29-07-2023, 00:53:47 IST, Lat: 10.75 & Long: 93.47, Depth: 69 Km, Location: Andaman Islands."

This wasn't the first earthquake to hit the region recently. On July 9, 2023, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the Southeast of Campbell Bay in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, with an epicenter at a depth of 70 kilometers and coordinates of Latitude 5.87 and Longitude 94.83.

Likewise, on July 28, 2023, an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale jolted Arunachal Pradesh. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage reported. The quake's epicenter was located north of Pangin in the Siang district, with coordinates of Lat 30.01 and Long 98.48, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
Earlier, on July 22, 2023, a magnitude 3.3 earthquake shook Tawang district in the northeastern state of India.
Authorities and seismologists are closely monitoring the situation and advising residents to stay vigilant and prepared for any potential aftershocks.
