Subsequently, it was confirmed that one terrorist was neutralized during the operation.

This operation occurred the day after a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist module was exposed in the Baramulla district. This discovery resulted in the apprehension of two militant associates and the seizure of weapons and ammunition from them. The police spokesperson identified the two individuals as Zaid Hassan Malla, a resident of Mir Sahib Baramulla, and Mohammad Arif Channa, from Stadium Colony Baramulla.

"They were engaged in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition under the direction of Pakistan-based terror handlers, with the purpose of further supplying these to LeT terrorists for conducting acts of terror," the spokesperson reported.

Meanwhile, in the Anantnag district, an operation is ongoing to neutralize terrorists who have taken positions in a forested area within rugged terrain. The terrorists are currently trapped in a cave at the top of a hill in the Kokernag area and the security forces have surrounded the terrorists.

The drone footage showed that the terrorists were hiding in a natural cave in the mountains of Gadole forests in the Kokarnag area of Anantnag.

4 security personnel martyred

Tragically, four security personnel lost their lives in a devastating incident where terrorists opened fire during a search operation. This fierce gunfight occurred in the Kokernag area and resulted in the untimely deaths of an Army colonel, a major, and a senior police official. The fallen officers have been identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Humayun Bhat, and they were targeted by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants.
