Amritpal Singh has made a joke out of the Punjab Police
Radical Sikh leader, Amritpal Singh has successfully managed to dodge police action for the past two weeks.
It says a lot about the will of the Punjab Police and this inaction had even prompted a reprimand from the High Court, which asked if an 80,000 strong force was unable to nab one man. Despite combing operations, Amritpal Singh managed to give the police the slip on March 28.

Post his escape on March 18, Amritpal Singh has been seen in Haryana and Delhi. There were reports that he was making efforts to get out of the country and reach Nepal. However there are no confirmed reports that he is back in Punjab. He even audaciously said in a recent video that he will not surrender. Instead he has called for a large Sikh congregation to discuss issues relating to the community. Backing his case is the Akhal Takht, which has called for the release of all Amritpal's aides. It has also warned of consequences, if action against Amritpal Singh is not stalled.
Experts OneIndia spoke with say that from the start, it did not appear as though the Punjab Police are serious about Amritpal Singh. Although the police claim that it will not stop until he is arrested, it looks as though the right action has not been taken as yet. Further being the police of a border state and knowing fully well that he is a stooge of the ISI, Pakistan, it is surprising that the police have not been able to nab him as yet, the expert also said.
The descent of Amritpal Singh into India is also something that needs to be pondered over. A truck driver in Dubai, he landed out of nowhere to take over the Waris Punjab De following the death of Deep Sidhu. The Punjab Police were silent when the man went on a rampage attacking people at Gurdwaras.
While the way he has been giving the police the slip is one part of the problem, the reaction by the Punjab Police was clearly lacking during the Ajnala Police station incident. His supporters stormed the police straiten with weapons and the police did not act. Instead they cited the Guru Granth Sahib carried by his supporters as the reason for them not acting.
While the chase continues, Amritpal Singh has indicated that the police had no intention of arresting him. Had they that intention, they would have come to my house, he said.
In the video clip he is heard saying, "the Almighty saved us from the attempt of lakhs of cops, who were sent to make an arrest."
He also said that the state government had no intention of arresting him.
"If the state government had the intention of making an arrest, the police could have come to my house and he would have given up."
