Amit Shah arrives at BS Yediyurappa's residence for key meet

Union home minister Amit Shah, who is in Bengaluru, arrived at former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa's residence on Friday for an important meeting.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah visits former Karnataka CM & BJP leader BS Yediyurappas residence in Bengaluru.

Shah who was greeted by Yediyurappa, immediately with a bouquet, asked the latter to give it to his younger son BY Vijayendra and said,"Yediyurappa ji isko dedo aap" (Yediyurappa ji please give to him). This is being seen by some within the party as Shah acknowledging Vijayendra's contribution to the party, and him possibly contesting in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Shah later held a breakfast meeting with top Karnataka BJP leaders at Yediyurappa's residence. According to TV reports, the meeting is being held to discuss strategy for the forthcoming assembly polls, due by May, in the next few days, and the party is in the process of finalising candidates for the polls.

Yediyurappa, the octogenarian leader, who is also a member of the party's Parliamentary Board, its top decision-making body, had been touring across the state as part of the 'Vijaya Sankalpa Yatre' in recent weeks.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, state BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, party's General Secretary in charge of Karnataka Arun Singh, Yediyurappa's younger son and party's state Vice-President B Y Viayendra were among those present at the breakfast meet.

It may be recalled that recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised Yediyurappa on his 80th birthday and termed his contributions to public life inspirational. The gesture fuelled speculation that the BJP wants to bring Yediyurappa to the centre-stage of its campaign for elections due by May.

Not only that, Shah had also urged the people to repose faith in PM Modi and Yediyurappa and vote the BJP back to power in the state.
